SSC CGL EXAM FULL SYLLABUS

Staff Selection Commission (SSC)’s Combined Graduate Level Exam will be conducted in three tiers as indicated below:
  • Tier -I -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
  • Tier -II -- Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type)
  • Tier -III -- Personality Test /Interview/Computer Proficiency Test or Skill Test 
SSC CGL tier-I SYLLABUS:-

Tier I will consist of 4 sections

1.General Intelligence and reasoning:
This section is based on Figure Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Analogy, Symbolic operations,
Symbolic/Number Analogy, Number Series, Embedded figures etc.

similarities and differences, analogy, space visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgement, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning and figural classification, arithmetic number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. The topics are, Semantic Analogy, Symbolic/Number Analogy, Figural Analogy, Semantic Classification, Symbolic/Number Classification, Figural Classification, Semantic Series, Number Series, Figural Series, Problem Solving, Word Building, Coding & de-coding, Numerical Operations, symbolic Operations, Trends, Space Orientation, Space Visualization, Venn Diagrams, Drawing inferences, folding & un-folding of Punched hole/pattern, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Indexing, Address matching, Date & city matching, Classification of centre codes/roll numbers, Small & Capital letters/numbers coding, decoding and classification, Embedded Figures, Critical thinking, Emotional Intelligence, Social Intelligence etc.

2.English Language:
Through this section, a candidate's ability to understand correct English etc. would be tested. The syllabus of this section is below:
Fill in the Blanks, Idioms & Phrases, One word substitution, Synonyms, Antonyms, Spellings/Detecting Mis-spelt words, Active/Passive Voice of Verbs etc.

3.General Awareness:
This section will have questions on current events, India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining History, Geography, Economic Scene,Culture, General Policy & Scientific Research.
SSC CGL exam syllabus of general awareness section is vast and comes from various subjects including history, geography, polity, economics, physics, chemistry, current affairs etc.

4.Quantitative Aptitude:
This section is based on questions on Numbers, Fractions, algebra, Time and distance, Time and work, Averages, Simple interest and Compound interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Partnership Business, Mixture and Alligation, Trigonometry, Mensuration, Geometry etc.

Whole numbers, decimals ,fractions and relationships between numbers, Percentage. SSC CGL Tier-II Syllabus:-

Paper-I :
Quantitative Ability :-
The paper will be questions based on Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, relationship between Numbers, Fundamental Arithmetical Operations, Percentage, , Use of Table and
Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time etc.

Paper-II :
English Language & Comprehsion : 
This section will be based on Error recognition, fill in the blanks, preposition, articles,
Vocabulary, Spellings, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Sentence Completion etc.
SSC CGL 2014 complete syllabus of English is below:
Spot the error, questions on filling blanks, synonyms and antonyms, spelling error detection,  shuffling of sentence parts,  cloze & comprehension passage, idioms & phrases, 1 word substitution, sentence improvement, verbs active & passive, narration

Paper-III :-
Statistics for Investigator Grade-II, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation & Compiler in RGI.


IMPORTANT NOTE:-
The questions in Paper 1 of exam will be of 10th standard level, Paper-II of 10+2 level and Paper-III of graduation level.

TIER III:

Skill Test: FOR TAX ASSISTANTS POSTS ( Central Excise & Income Tax):
CPT for Assistants in CSS.
Data Entry Speed Test (DEST) at 8,000 Key Depression/hr. on Computer.
Data Entry Speed Skill Test at 2000 key depressions for 15 min. will be of qualifying nature.
